This is a simple egg free biscuit recipe used in my kitchen at a high school. It's a great recipe as you can add anything you like. This is a great recipe for kids to try, you can't go wrong.

IngredientsMakes: 20 simple school biscuits
- 430g self raising flour
- 305g butter or margarine
- 245g granulated sugar

- Heat your oven to 170 C / Gas 3.
- Place all of your ingredients into a mixing bowl. If you wish to add any powdered flavouring (e.g. cocoa powder) add it now. Mix on a medium speed for 5 minutes until soft, well mixed and easy to handle. If you don't have a mixing machine you can mix by hand until you reach the same texture. Slowly mix in any extra ingredients you wish to add to flavour your biscuits. Remove the mixture from the bowl and roll into 20 ping pong sized balls. Arrange on the prepared baking tray, allowing space to spread.
- Bake in the centre of the preheated oven for approximately 15 minutes or until they reach desired firmness (the longer they bake the more crisp they will be). Remove from the oven and allow to cool on the baking tray for 10 minutes, then gently lift them and place onto a wire cooling rack.
Instead of adding coconut to the mix try rolling the dough balls in the coconut before cooking.
